Hier toe kanmen lichtelijck, als tot een buytens-tijdige oeffeninge, en sijn eyghen selfs vermaeckingh, de handen aen het werck slaen; niet datmen dat door een langhwijligen arbeydt van in ’t Koper te snijden, (dat veel moeyten in heeft, om het Graef-yser wel te leeren handelen,) sou halen; maer door een lichte maniere, van met sterck water te Etzen of in Koper in te bijten, welcke veel korter en gemackelijcker gaet dan het snyen met de Graveer-ysers, gelijck die nu oock in Vranckrijck en in Hollandt soo gemeen, en fraey geoffent wert, datmense naeulicx van ’t Snyen onderscheyden kan.

[suggested translation, Marije Osnabrugge:] For this one can easily, as for an extra practice and one’s own entertainment, put the hands to work; not that one would obtain this through the boring work of cutting in Copper, (which costs a lot of effort, to learn to handle the burin well,) but by means of an easy way, of Etching or biting in Copper with acid water [ndr: literally: strong water], which goes much quicker and easier than the cutting with burins, as it is now commonly and nicely practiced in France and Holland, that one can hardly distinguish it from Engraving
